LOW IMPACT DEVELOPMENT
Often called "LID," low-impact development employs a collection of techniques that seeks to better mimic the natural drainage patterns and hydrology of a site. The methods used are often nearly invisible to the general public. Furthermore, LID methods are typically "passive" in nature, requiring almost no attention or maintenance by the homeowner.Typical elements of an LID site include raingardens, stormwater disperion and open-spaces. This approach works to infiltrate and disperse stormwater as close to its source as possible, allowing it to infiltrate back into the ground in a natural manner.
We have partcipated in numerous public education and training classes on LID, and are available to help your community or organization learn more about this exciting tool for development.
